Plumbing the depths of Human Computer Interaction Design
I am currently doing research at the Interaction Design Lab at Cornell University under Professors Geri Gay and Dan Cosley along with many other talented graduate and undergraduate students. My primary task is design and development of software for use in Human Computer Interaction research. In addition, I help with data analysis and paper writing as-needed.
We are in the process of getting a paper published that we worked on over the summer. It uses an iPhone/iPod touch webapp called MobiTags that, with the help of others, I designed and developed. MobiTags' goal is to facilitate semantic, social, and spatial navigation and overcome some of the problems of an open collection in museums. This project and any future work with it will be part of my Honors Thesis.
Cosley, D., Baxter, J., Lee, S., Alson, B., Adams, P., Nomura, S., Sarabu, C., Gay, G. 2009. A Tag in the Hand: Supporting Semantic, Social, and Spatial Navigation in Museums. Submitted to CHI '09. Email me for a preprint copy.
Last semester, I worked on the team of the Cornell University Department of Communication's WikiCandidate '08 project. This project is trying to see how people collaborate to create an "ideal" presidential candidate. The research aspects of it are still ongoing, so definitely have a look and contribute. For the project, I was responsible for much of the site design as well as implementing some of the features. I still help out on the project on the side as an on-call developer to fix problems, change some design elements, and add in new features as time permits.
