Connected. Wired. Plugged in. If my mind could be, it would.
My name is Brian Alson. I am a 23 year old Senior at Cornell University. To go along with my connected lifestyle, I study it. I am an Information Science major, focusing on Human Centered Systems. It's amazing to be able to examine what makes up the Web and explore and shape where it's going.
Being a student, school takes up the majority of my time. In addition to classes, I do research in the Interactive Design Lab (formerly the Human Computer Interaction Lab), focusing on mobile, place-centric design and development. I do web design & development for the WikiCandidate '08 project. I TA for an Intro to Web Design class. I'm the Public Relations Chair and Webmaster for the Information Science Student Association
When not in class or meetings, I'm usually glued to the computer. I am a self-professed geek who happens to be a huge fan of Google. I am a technophile in the broadest sense: hardware, software, webware, infrastructure, I love learning about and understanding all of it. I am a Mac-loving convert resigned to living in a Windows world. Give me a good computer challenge and you can keep me satisfied for hours.
I do have an offline life too. Some people find me moderately humorous and largely crazy. I have great friends who are there through thick and thin, who embrace and celebrate my craziness. I enjoy having fun, hanging out, playing frisbee, tennis, or soccer, running around taking pictures, or watching movies with good friends. God is a large part of my life and, without Him, I wouldn't be here right now.
So, that's a short summary of me. I'm always looking forward to the next adventure. If you run into me anywhere, online or off, don't hesitate to say hi. See you around.
